2.1 Data Stored Locally (On Your Device)

The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and never leaves your device:

User Settings: Your AI provider preference, API key (encrypted), and export preferences
Extraction History: Previously extracted tasks (stored for your reference only)
License Information: Your license key and validation status
Usage Counters: Daily extraction count (for free tier limits)

2.2 Data Sent to Third-Party AI Providers

When you extract tasks, the following data is sent directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic):

Text content from the current webpage (or selected text)
Extraction prompt and parameters

Important: This data is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider using your own API key. It does not pass through our servers.

2.3 Data Sent to Startvest Servers

The only data sent to our servers is:

License Validation: Your license key (sent to verify validity and retrieve tier limits)

We do NOT collect or receive: webpage content, extracted tasks, your browsing history, or AI provider API keys.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we receive for:

License Validation: Verifying your license key is valid and active
Tier Enforcement: Determining which features you have access to based on your license tier
Customer Support: Helping you if you contact us with issues (using your email from purchase)

4. Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab: Grants temporary access to the current tab only when you click the extension icon. This allows us to read page content to extract tasks.
storage: To save your settings, task history, and preferences locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
scripting: To inject our content reader script when you activate the extension.
contextMenus: To add right-click menu options for extracting tasks from selected text.

4.1 What We Do NOT Access

Your browsing history: We cannot see what sites you visit or have visited.
Other tabs or windows: We can only access the tab you're currently viewing, and only when you click the extension.
Background tracking: The extension only activates when you explicitly use it.

5. Data Security

All data stored locally uses Chrome's secure storage API
API communications use HTTPS encryption
Your AI provider API key is stored locally and never transmitted to our servers
License validation uses secure API endpoints

6. Data Retention

Local Data: Stored until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
License Records: We retain license purchase records for accounting and support purposes
Task History: Free tier keeps 7 days; Pro tier keeps unlimited history locally

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: View all data stored locally by the extension in your browser's developer tools
Delete: Clear all local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser storage
Export: Export your task history to various formats (CSV, JSON, Markdown)
Deactivate: Deactivate your license at any time from the extension settings

8. Third-Party Services

The extension integrates with:

OpenAI/Anthropic: For AI-powered task extraction (using your API key)
Stripe: For payment processing (we don't store payment details)
Notion, Todoist, ClickUp, etc.: Optional export integrations (Pro tier, using OAuth)
