This Privacy Policy explains how the Helpdesk AI Chrome extension ("Extension"), developed by Startvest LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), collects, uses, and protects your information.

      Key Point: Your data stays local. We do not collect, store, or transmit customer support tickets, generated responses, or your knowledge base content to our servers.
    

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data Stored Locally (On Your Device)

The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and never leaves your device:

User Settings: Your AI provider preference, API key (encrypted), and response tone preferences
Knowledge Base: Custom knowledge base entries you add for context
Response Templates: Saved response templates and macros
Response History: Previously generated responses (stored for your reference)
License Information: Your license key and validation status
Usage Counters: Daily response generation count (for free tier limits)

2.2 Data Sent to Third-Party AI Providers

When you generate a response, the following data is sent directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic):

Customer ticket/message content from the helpdesk platform
Your knowledge base context (if enabled)
Response tone and style preferences

Important: This data is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider using your own API key. It does not pass through our servers.

2.3 Data Sent to Startvest Servers

The only data sent to our servers is:

License Validation: Your license key (sent to verify validity and retrieve tier limits)

We do NOT collect or receive: customer ticket data, generated responses, knowledge base content, or AI provider API keys.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we receive for:

License Validation: Verifying your license key is valid and active
Tier Enforcement: Determining which features you have access to based on your license tier
Customer Support: Helping you if you contact us with issues

4. Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab: Grants temporary access to read ticket content from supported helpdesk platforms when you click the extension.
storage: To save your settings, knowledge base, and templates locally.
scripting: To inject content scripts on supported helpdesk platforms.

4.1 Supported Platforms

4.2 What We Do NOT Access

Your browsing history: We cannot see what sites you visit.
Customer personal data: We don't store or transmit customer PII.
Your helpdesk credentials: We never access your login information.

5. Data Security

All data stored locally uses Chrome's secure storage API
API communications use HTTPS encryption
Your AI provider API key is stored locally and never transmitted to our servers
Customer data is processed in-memory only and not persisted

6. Data Retention

Local Data: Stored until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
License Records: We retain license purchase records for accounting and support purposes
Response History: Configurable retention period in settings

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: View all data stored locally by the extension
Delete: Clear all local data by uninstalling the extension or using the clear data option
Export: Export your knowledge base and templates
Deactivate: Deactivate your license at any time

8. Third-Party Services

The extension integrates with:

Stripe: For payment processing (we don't store payment details)
