PromptVault - AI Prompt Manager ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

1. Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally (on your device only)

• Prompts: Your saved prompts, including titles, content, tags, and variables
• Folders: Organization structure you create for your prompts
• Settings: Your preferences and configuration options
• Variable History: Previously used values for prompt variables
• Usage Statistics: How often you use each prompt (stored locally)

Data Sent to Third Parties

• License Validation: If you purchase a Pro license, we verify your license key with our server. This only transmits the license key and a device identifier—no prompt data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Store and organize your AI prompts locally
• Insert prompts into AI chat interfaces
• Track prompt usage for your convenience
• Validate Pro license purchases

3. Data Storage & Security

All personal data (prompts, folders, settings) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's Storage API. This data:

• Never leaves your device (except license validation which doesn't include prompt data)
• Is not accessible to us or any third party
• Can be deleted at any time by clearing extension data or uninstalling
• Can be exported for backup (Pro feature)

4. Third-Party Services

The Extension integrates with AI chat interfaces for prompt insertion:

• ChatGPT (OpenAI)
• Claude (Anthropic)
• Google Gemini
• Perplexity
• Poe
• Microsoft Copilot

The extension only inserts text into these interfaces—it does not read your conversations or send data to these services.

5. Permissions Explained

• storage: Save your prompts, settings, and preferences locally
• activeTab: Insert prompts into the current AI chat page when you activate the extension
• contextMenus: Provide right-click menu options for quick access
• Host permissions (AI sites): Access AI chat pages to enable prompt insertion

6. Data Retention

Local data is retained until you:

• Clear the extension's storage
• Uninstall the extension
• Manually delete prompts or folders
• Use the "Clear All Data" option in settings

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all data stored by the extension (via Chrome's developer tools or export feature)
• Delete your data at any time
• Export your prompts (Pro feature)
• Opt out of license validation by using the free version

8. Children's Privacy

This Extension is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
